Why didn't Cindy think of torture and headache before? Coming out now with her secret life of migraines is strange timing. Who keeps migraine headaches a secret anyway and why?Why now when her husband is no longer going to run for office do they need campaign like events?
Cindy McCain proves she is a big head case.
Before addressing the International Headache Congress (really?!) later this month, Cindy McCain is opening up about her 15 year secret struggle with migraines in hopes to inspire research.
She downplayed her pain for years because she didn't want to bother her family, along with keeping in mind John's immense suffering during his five year captivity in Hanoi.

"Torture," she says in People. "Being tied to a chair for four days. I can't imagine how unbearable that pain must have been, but yeah, I can, because a migraine may come close."
Mrs. McCain said she tried to downplay her own suffering, frequently donning dark glasses to avoid the bright camera lights that can trigger migraines.Phoenix - Valley Fever - Headache Crusader Cindy McCain to Give Keynote Speech for Headache

I'm no supporter of Cindy McCain's selfishness, and I have no idea whether she actually gets migraines or not. But I have to tell my own story.
ReplyDeleteI get migraines and can say that they ARE a serious disability if they become chronic, as they were for me at one point.
I've struggled for years with accusations that I'm a drug addict/alcoholic because I've missed so much time from work, and skipped from job to job as a result of having poor attendance records.
I've only found some help recently in a combination of prescription drugs (not the Imitrex type, which only make migraines worse eventually) and herbs.
I was rejected for private health insurance more than once because of my migraines.
So yes, migraines can be a terrible problem in one's life. That's why I am so convinced we need a public option. More money for research doesn't help -- better access to healthcare, does. It is only then that we will know the true scope of the problem and have a better idea of how to fix it. THEN we can have the research, done independently of the drug companies, which only seem to know how to apply some potentially very lethal band-aids.
